Letters From Tonga

This was hands-down our most intense trip yet, we barely paused for breath, but Tonga has a way of holding you in place. From its people and towering cliffs to the wild beauty of its coral reefs, this is the South Pacific in its most dramatic and unfiltered form.

I Fell in Love With Real Connections

In Tonga, there’s no performance, no curated version of what visitors should see. We were welcomed into homes, shared stories over meals and spent time with people far from the usual tourism route. That kind of honesty and openness is rare, and it left a real mark on me.

It is one of the very few places in the world where you can have this experience – the opportunity to swim with humpback whales. Saying it’s an incredible experience is an understatement, which only those who have had the privilege to swim with some of the world’s largest mammals can understand.

Or cross the island’s wild, rugged terrain on the back of a ute.

The Feel Of Tonga

Sea-facing caves filled with freshwater

Some two-wheeled fun

Resorts with their own gorgeous yoga pavilions either nestled in coconut trees or hanging over the beach.

Could there be a better setting to find your zen?

An eerie sinkhole that plunges deep (and no one seems to know how deep) into the abyss at this mystical natural attraction among the Eua forest.

A circle around a kava bowl with singing, playing the guitar and drinking this drink with calming effects.

Here, you can not only connect with rich, genuine culture, relax in luxury experiences, but also discover your inner islander by mastering traditional Tongan survival skills.

As a travel journalist and editor-in-chief of South Pacific Pocket Guide, Laura’s mission has been to show the world how easy (and awesome) it is to explore the South-Pacific paradise. She travels with her business and life partner Robin (who has been styling Laura in Moso Morrow to keep her comfortable in their travels!) They love sharing tips on how best to experience region’s must-dos and hidden gems. I decided to share some of the amazing places they visit across this culture- and nature-rich region, hopefully inspiring some of you to visit those incredible locations!.. And if you’d like to wrap yourself in silky-soft, stylish and comfy travel wardrobe as you do that, check out her Moso Morrow travel style too.
