How Many Trees Have You Planted?

Australian Forests

As I was walking through Bardwell Valley Parklands following my little son running ahead along a neat man-made pathway, I was looking at big beautiful trees, hearing birds singing, wind going through the tops of the trees, the gentle burbling of the creek and cicada sounds mixing into a familiar background going through me at a frequency of the heart. I suddenly remembered all other forests I’ve been to across three continents and suddenly felt an urgent need for my children to know, remember and keep close to their hearts what a wild forest smells like.

A thought came to mind…

What if we try to make everything we touch better than what it was when we first found it?

It’s not a rhythorical question. I mean it.

There are so many things that are very wrong with the fashion industry today. At Moso Morrow we are adamantly against contributing to deforestation, microplastics and torturing women with shapewear, bras and synthetics. We can do a thing or two to turn that around.

The one thing we can start doing right now to make the world a better place is stop losing our beautiful forests. And that is why we decided to plant a tree for every customer order placed with us.

Did you know that Australia has the seventh largest forest area in the world, making up 3% of the Earth’s forests? Australia’s forests range from ancient rainforest and tropical mangroves to native bush lands with acacia, melaleuca and eucalyptus trees but deforestation is real. We have over 123 million hectares of unique and varied native forests here. Based on The Wilderness Society’s researchAustralia has lost 27% of its rainforest, 19% of open forest, 11% of woodland forest and 28% of mallee forest since 1750. Fifty-five wildlife species plus 37 plant species have gone extinct in Australia. The greatest threat to koalas in Queensland and New South Wales is habitat loss. Our natural world is changing fast…

So we want to do something about deforestation

We want you to know that every time you buy, we plant a tree in Australia with One Tree Planted. Please check them out at onetreeplanted.org. They collaborate with awesome partners to ensure the trees are planted and maintained the right way and support restoration at scale. Each tree we plant together will contribute to protecting Australia’s unique biodiversity and restore areas affected by bushfires.

I want my kids to know what a wild wild forest smells like. I hope you do too.

Let’s help the world we want our kids to live in! Let’s do it now.

Yours truly,

Natalia at Moso Morrow
